I am just feeling incredibly blessed right now and thus felt the urge to post a second blog this morning.
I'm currently in my NEW apartment. The one that has nice floors and ceiling tiles. It will have wireless Internet in the next few days.
My "landlord" (complicated situation), Piotr is only a few years older than me. He's super friendly and wonderful. Piotr actually drove over to the dorm and helped me move all my stuff to the new apartment. He's friends with my roommate also and so I think he will visit frequently.
When I thanked him for the hundredth time for his help...such as translating to the crazy Polish dorm moms that speak ZERO words of English...or carrying half my stuff down the stairs...or taking the trash out...he merely smiled and said we almost have the same last name.
Another reason that my last name rocks.
Piotr's last name is Jackowski. His great grandfather had a number of brothers and sisters...we could actually be related, but even if we aren't it's cool to find something so similar between an American and a Pole.
Most of the Polish people I've met so far in Gdansk are awesome. I'm really looking forward to making some permanent friends again. And...I am counting down the days until the wonderful and beautiful Theresa comes to visit me from the U.P. (Upper Peninsula of Michigan). Best friends for life <3
