tiny place so there are very very few flights. Mine left a good 7 hours before Jeff's. So after breakfast, I had to pack up and hit the road. He headed into town to hang out at a coffee shop for awhile, so we got to ride the tuk tuk together. It's quite an experience.
The tuk tuk driver let him out and then we drove away! It was kind of weird/movie-like watching Jeff fade into the distance.
I got to Cambodia a few hours later. It's another super duper poor country, actually tied with Lao on a lot of poverty measures. The hostel is located pretty awesomely, but I wasn't feeling good so I didn't leave after I got there. I splurged here and booked a single room with a/c. Yes, some people travel through here without air conditioning, some people being psychotic people! I also way overbooked days in Siem Reap so I could take it easy, enjoy the hostel's pool, and just relax a little after the crazy week and a half I'd just had.
The hostel is kind of crappy. It had pretty good ratings and I thought it'd be nice with a bar and pool, but there is zero insulation and my room is connected to the stairwell so any yelling anywhere in the hostel echos into my room at all hours of the night. The pool area is also super loud. It's just not quite as relaxing as I had hoped.
It's also a LOT of people who just go out and get trashed every night, which isn't my vibe. I prefer to meet travel/sightseeing buddies. There's one guy who's been here a week and still hasn't seen Ankgor Wat! It's a World Heritage site and the #1 tourist attraction in Cambodia so it's kind of sad. I'm definitely ready to move to my next hostel tomorrow (yah, I'm writing this three days late, sue me).
