One visit with Ambassador Feinstein wasn't enough! Last night, the U.S. Ambassador invited both the new American Fulbrighters and the recently returned Polish Fulbrighters to his home for a celebration of awesomeness. It was a much more relaxed atmosphere than our first encounter with him during orientation.
The evening was filled with delicious appetizers and various sorts of beverages, but most importantly a night of sharing culture and intelligence.
During the short program, we honored the long-time director of the the U.S.-Poland Fulbright Commission. After 22 years and starting the Fulbright program in Poland, Andrzej Dakowski (in the middle) is retiring at the end of September. He was given awards by the Ambassador (on the left) and the Polish Minister of Education Maria Elżbieta Orłowska (second from the left).
Two Fulbrighters, an American and Pole, shared a little insight into their research. Stan (second from the right) is going to Lublin to teach about U.S. culture through music. His short five minutes were filled with a beautiful singing voice.
The Polish Fulbrighter was not happy about following the singing American, but she was my favorite! She talked about her research urban cities in none other than Detroit! We talked for quite some time after the program because she implored the audience to rethink their attitude towards my hometown. I found a Detroit-advocate in Poland!
Of course, the evening would not have been complete without snapping a quick photo with the Ambassador.
